Series: The Evidence of Damage
Chapter Five: At the Edge of the Universe
Author: vegawriters
Fandom: Law and Order: SVU; In Plain Sight
Pairing: Alex/Olivia; brief Alex/OFC; Mary/Marshall
Rating: Mature
Timeframe: SVU: directly following Shattered; In Plain Sight: directly following Love's Faber Lost
A/N: This crossover attempts to combine the SVU and IPS worlds. Hopefully you don't need to know too much about the other show if you don't watch it and I hope I don't leave you too confused. For those keeping score, The Evidence of Damage exists in the same fanon as ALL my other SVU stories and references the Patience series in the In Plain Sight universe. All stories can be found here.
Disclaimer: In Plain Sight and Law and Order: SVU are owned by people other than me. If I did own them, I’d read the fanfiction people wrote and totally steal their ideas ;-). Since I don’t own them, I just write fic. And I don’t make a dime off of it. I do make noise, though.
Summary: Honestly, Mary didn’t mind her newest assignment. Alexandra Cabot the lawyer was deeply fascinating and much more engaging than Andrea Maddox the witness had been. And it wasn’t as if Alex needed twenty-four hour protection. No, she needed a ride to the border and protection on the other side whenever needed. Life as a witness protection marshal was feast or famine anyway and lately, it was pretty well slow.

Summary: Part of her wanted to give up. She wanted to just go back to the DA’s office and stick with the same, comfortable routine that the world seemed to expect of the people living in it. But she wasn’t capable of that anymore. It would be so easy to settle into a comfortable, stable life with Olivia. The problem was that comfortable and stable, the two things she knew she should crave after what she’d been through in her life, were the two things she didn’t want.

Chapter Three: Six Weeks
Author: vegawriters
Fandom: Law and Order: SVU; In Plain Sight
Pairing: Alex/Olivia (angst)
Rating: Adult
Warnings: Brief depiction of sexual assault
A/N: For those of you who don’t watch In Plain Sight, let me make a few clarifications: for security reasons, the Inspectors do not give their real names to those they are protecting. Inspector Davis and Inspector Cotton are the same person, as are Inspector Shannon and Inspector Shepherd. And yes, his name is Marshall and he’s a Marshal. For those of you who don’t watch SVU – just think of it as an IPS ep. ;-)

Summary: Mary raced down the hospital corridor, her rubber shoes thudding dully on the scuffed linoleum. This was a nightmare. An absolute nightmare. Not only had she not been fast enough to stop Cotton, but her protectee was now completely traumatized. She missed Marshall. Amazingly enough, she realized that Marshall would know what to do.

Chapter 2: Right Around the Corner
Author:
vegawriters
Fandom: Law and Order: SVU; In Plain Sight
Pairing: Alex/Olivia
Rating: Adult
Timeframe: If it’s aired for either show, it’s fair game.
A/N: The series title is taken from Adrienne Rich’s poem Diving into the Wreck. For reader perspective, the present day events in this series take place directly following Daylight Fading.
Disclaimer: I own neither show. And until I am a card carrying member of the WGA, I can’t work for either of them. So, instead, the money I don’t make goes back to NBC Universal and the powers that be and I’ll just enjoy writing and playing. Sydney Ludlow, Ali Ramos, and other original characters all belong to me.
Summary: How many of these countries did the United States secretly support? How many trade treaties sanctioned these abuses simply so they could access technology for the consumerism so enjoyed by the Western world? Was this the human price of capitalism? She glanced guiltily at her cell phone and let out a breath. Sydney had warned about this initial phase of guilt and to let her feel it but to recognize that while poor trade policies and corrupt governments placed in power by Western authorities were to blame for the atrocities, she wasn’t guilty because she had a cell phone. There was more at stake than what appeared on the surface.

Summary: Olivia fell deathly silent again and Elliot kicked himself. Was. Alex was a pit bull. All that was left of her was a lifeless, bullet ridden corpse that the hospital wouldn’t let Olivia see because she wasn’t family. The feds had already commandeered the investigation and Alex’s body and not even Warner was allowed in to process. They’d get to say goodbye at the funeral, Hammond had barked at them.
