Pairing: Alex/Olivia
Rating: Adult (references to sexual assault)
Timeframe: Through and directly after Witness
Warnings: Conversations about sexual assault and rape involving established characters; references to atrocities happening around the country.
Disclaimer: I acknowledge that the powers that be of Dick Wolf and Company own these characters and I make no money off of my writings. Ali Ramos, Sydney Ludlow, and Yanaha Kanuho are mine, however, and if they want them, they have to hire me. Quotes utilized in this story come from the Amnesty International: Maze of Justice report.

“The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia confirmed in 2002 that a key principle relating to rape in criminal law around the world is that “serious violations of sexual autonomy are to be penalised. Sexual autonomy is violated wherever the person subjected to the act has not freely agreed to it or is otherwise not a voluntary participant.”

Chapter 4: Shifting Sands
Author:
vegawriters
Fandom: Law and Order: SVU
Pairing: Alex/Olivia
Rating: Adult (references to sexual assault)
Timeframe: Post Confidential and takes place just before the events in Witness; In my fanon, this series takes place after the events in Angel Seeker. If you are curious as to what Alex is up to, check out her blog.
Warnings: Conversations about and flashbacks to sexual assault and rape involving established characters.
A/N: Sydney Ludlow made her first appearance in Light My Candle, which is a West Wing fic that will someday be re-posted over at
vega_voices. For this story, everything about Sydney and CJ Cregg remain the same, except for the Bartlet Administration specifically, as the Bartlet Administration does not easily mesh with SVU canon. But the characters do crossover well.
Disclaimer: I really wish I could find a way to work for these guys, but at the same time, if I did, I couldn’t take the characters out to play like I do. So instead, I acknowledge that the powers that be of Dick Wolf and Company own these characters and I make no money off of my writings. Well, Ali Ramos, Yanaha Kanuho, and Sydney Ludlow are mine and if they want them, they have to hire me. If they won’t let Olivia date Alex, maybe we’ll get Ali instead? ;-)
Summary: “Yes. The entire Mexico-US border is as lawless as an old Clint Eastwood movie. And a lot of that crime spills onto the reservations where there is little oversight and a maze of jurisdictional boundaries that keep almost anything, especially rape, from being prosecuted.” The other woman paused. “Which brings me to you.”

A/N: As I started doing basic background research for this fic, I started to learn statistics that frighten me. This story isn’t just about Ali, Alex, and Olivia and their relationships with each other, it’s a case file that will eventually bring Alex to the conclusion we saw in Witness. I am sticking with canon and what they did with Alex’s character, of course just tweaking it slightly. For anyone who is interested in how Alex is doing right now, you can check out her blog.

The U.S. Government has undermined the authority of tribal justice systems to respond to crimes of sexual violence by consistent under-funding. Federal law limits the criminal sentences that tribal courts can impose for any one offense to one year and prohibits tribal courts from trying non-Indian suspects -- even though data collected by the Department of Justice shows that up to 86 percent of perpetrators are non-Indian.

Timeframe: Post Confidential and takes place just before the events in Witness; In my fanon, this series takes place after the events in Angel Seeker.
Warnings: Fallout from rape. Nothing graphic, but it’s there.
A/N: For timeline purposes, we’re going to say that Confidential took place a couple of weeks before it aired. Work with me people. ;-)

Summary: Something had changed in just the last couple of months. What had been, even at Christmas, a hesitant commitment fraught with confusion and questions about each other's goals for the relationship was now passionately comfortable. Since September, they’d been rebuilding by what they did best: talking about everything and most of their confessions were made between the bed sheets.

Chapter 1: Snakes Through the Grass
Author:
vegawriters
Fandom: Law and Order: SVU
Pairing: Alex/Olivia; Elliot/Kathy
Rating: Adult
Timeframe: Post Confidential; Takes place after the events in Angel Seeker.
Warnings: This series deals with the case files that SVU deals with and with an attack on a character of mine, one you have all met.
A/N: Thank you to #omgcabotfacts on twitter for providing me with Alex’s opening line. And Ali Ramos was introduced in Walking on Slick Rock. You don’t need to have read it to understand, but her history is laid out there.

Summary: Alex threw her hands up in frustration and for the first time, Olivia saw the tears dancing in her eyes. “What am I doing, Olivia? Entertaining the idea that if I get into the political world I’ll actually be able to change anything? We all worked really hard to get someone elected on just that notion and even he checks polling numbers before entertaining the idea of whether or not he can do something like support a woman’s right to choose.”
