It hit me tonight just how long it's been. In just about a month, Luke will be eighteen. I blinked. I blinked and Marc's son is all grown up and living his own life. I promised Marc I'd take care of Luke ... I've done the best I can.
I just hope Luke understands how proud we all are of him. Of him and of what he's accomplished. Any kid would have had full rights to shut down and stop operating completely. Luke has soared above his peers.
Recently, while cleaning out yet another box that was shoved into a closet seven years ago, I came across some journals of Marc's from god ... decades ago. We had just moved from New York to Los Angeles. We were starving and always in danger of being evicted and he was falling in love with Jared and we were just trying to figure out what to do with ourselves and the words he wrote are stunning. I knew he was a good writer but these moments of life he captured ...
I'd forgotten that little incident with the dog.
I talked with Suzee tonight and she agrees that maybe publishing them isn't such a bad idea. Even in a blog format. I don't care if they ever made money or not, but they should be shared. Luke, however, is the one who will make the final decision.
Obviously, I'm still pouring through them and I will be for a while. It gives me reading material while we're on the road. But just what I've read so far tonight has been brilliant.
